Poetry Basket 1: Seasons

Poetry Basket 1: Seasons includes 40 lesser-known children’s rhymes from anonymous authors and follows the seasons of the year.

Suitable for Teachers, Early Years Practitioners, Parents and Carers of children aged 2 to 7.

Poetry Basket 1: Seasons, has revolutionised the use of poetry across the EYFS and Key Stage One. As each season approaches, children are invited to learn poems and use the vocabulary to talk about that time of year. From making pancakes and building snowmen, to growing seeds and watching thunderstorms, there’s a poem to support each event.

  • One years access to a series of online videos demonstrating poems and actions across the seasons. These poems can be shown directly to the children via a whiteboard, or learned by the grown ups and shared face-to-face.
  • Four downloadable Poetry Basket booklets to ensure you have the words to hand when you introduce the rhymes to your children.
  • Plus, if you prefer to print out the words to each poem separately we also include a downloadable A4 sheet for every poem above the video. These are handy for sending home to parents.
  • Access to the Poetry Basket Community

Your annual subscription gives you year round access to the Poetry Basket Community, with benefits such as:

  • Inspirational videos by Trisha Lee on aspects of poetry for children
  • The chance for your children to be featured in the Poetry Basket
  • Entry into our annual poetry competition
  • Suprise poems appearing from time to time

By watching the videos contained in this programme, practitioners and children learn poems and actions by heart. The poems follow the seasons of the year and are between 4 and 8 lines long. During each video, the poem is repeated three times to help cement it to memory.

Poetry Basket 1: Seasons, is suitable for Teachers, Early Years Practitioners, Childminders, Parents and Carers of children aged 2 to 7. The programme is payable by annual subscription. The subscription can be cancelled at anytime and you will still have access to the programme for a full year from the date purchased.

“It has become second nature to look for a poem that can be learnt in conjunction with the children’s wider learning of a subject. For example, linking 5 Peas in a Pod to the story The Runaway Pea, popping real pea pods and growing peas.”

Fantastic selection loved by all

These poems are so catchy and easy to use, my children amaze me at how quickly they pick up the words. I can hear them reciting them to their parents and to each other during provision. They love the actions and look forward to a new poem each week.
